Do you ever feel like being calm is a challenge? We can all use a little more calm, right?
This is the perfect bag for the new book I’m writing, Mindfulness: From Chaos to Calm.
Mindfulness is the simple common sense that we have lost in this fast paced world; it is living in the moment—the only time that truly exists.
Practicing mindfulness can help you to feel calmer and experience happiness more often.
Walking is great physical exercise and it can also be a wonderful mindfulness practice.
While you’re walking, become completely present and aware. Take a few deep breaths and feel yourself becoming calm and relaxed.
As you walk, become aware of your body moving. Notice any tension you’re feeling. Let go of the tension by relaxing your muscles. Unclench your fists, relax your stomach, and allow your shoulders to comfortably drop down and relax.
Take a deep breathe in and allow your mind to relax. Notice any thoughts you’re having but don’t judge them as good or bad, right or wrong. Simply become aware you’re having these thoughts.
Take a few more deep calming breaths.
Begin to observe your surroundings. Allow yourself to experience the moment with all of your senses:
Continue to enjoy your mindful walk. Allow yourself to feel more calm and more peaceful with each step you take.

We are all born beautiful little babies who naturally love themselves and others. Somewhere along the way we lose this self-love and become critical of ourselves and others. We learn to deny our true passions and feelings in order to fit in, to be like everyone else. We become self-conscious and try to hide who we truly are.

By starting the day with just ten minutes of complimenting his students and giving them high fives, he got amazing results: “After a few weeks of this practice, my students started complimenting one another consistently. They praise each other for accomplishments as if it was their own. They never insult one another and actively work towards helping each other.”
“Praising each other for accomplishments as if it was their own.” Learning to value themselves taught them to also value others; instead of being jealous of someone else having success, they felt good about it.
Why don’t all children get raised this way, at home and in school? Why not teach all children to love themselves, to value their uniqueness and value the uniqueness of others? Imagine how much better your life would be if you and the other people you grew up with had learned to love themselves and others.
It is insecurity and fear that drive people to put others down in order to build themselves up. When you value yourself for the beautiful unique person that you are, you do not need to put someone else down to make yourself feel good.

What is self-care?
“Self-care is about seeking and nurturing internal validation. It is finding the sweet child within and giving him or her soothing comfort, reassurance, and warm, loving thoughts and wishes. It is about taking care of the internal emotional side of our being and learning self-compassion.”

Loving yourself is not selfish, it is a true expression of who you are, who you were born to be. It is you being authentic and real, recognizing how special you are and not trying to be like someone else. It also means that you see others for the wonderful unique person that they are.
Look for the good in yourself and others. Compliment often. Nurture the beautiful child within. Let’s be the example that we want our children to follow. Love yourself. Love others.
If you have self-esteem issues and fears that are keeping you from fully embracing and accepting who you are, know that it is never too late to make the changes you want in your life. You can love yourself no matter what other people say, no matter what you’ve been through, no matter your past, or your circumstances. You can take control of your life.

Are affirmations ruining your life? Is your self-talk destroying your self-esteem?
You use affirmations every day without even realizing it. It is important to become aware of these affirmations so that you can choose the right ones for you. Is your internal dialogue setting you up for failure or success?
Affirmations like, I’m always broke, I never have enough money, or I’m not good enough, are very depressing and will not inspire you to do your best! You need to get rid of the negative energy in your mind.

I bought this book a number of years ago and it really helped me to see how the things I was saying to myself were causing a lot of fear and worry. Using positive affirmations helped me to stop creating excess fear and worry, and start creating more calm in my life.
I really loved the audio version of the book (included with the book). Listening to the affirmations over and over again, helped create a new habit for me. Instead of my old negative affirmations, I was starting to use new positive affirmations. I liked listening to the audio version while cooking dinner, doing laundry, or driving. Listening to it while going to sleep at night helped me to let go of stress, while being comforted by the affirmations.

Insanely productive people, we’ve all seen them; they come out with a new book every month, they run programs, hold webinars, they post regularly on all the social media sites, they are unstoppable! How do they do it?
Mindset. They have the right mindset. They don’t let limiting beliefs stop them. They work smarter not harder. They focus, use their energy wisely, are disciplined and organized.
How can you get the right mindset?
You can get the right mindset by reprogramming your mind, changing the negative things that you say to yourself, getting rid of limiting beliefs and other self-sabotaging behavior that goes on in the background, most of which you are not even aware of. I love this scripture. Rejoice! Who doesn’t want to rejoice, to celebrate, to show great joy, to feel good?
It is easy to rejoice when things are going well, but when troubled times come, when it feels like your life is falling apart, rejoicing is not the ‘normal’ reaction.
In this verse it says to rejoice in the Lord always. Always? What does that even mean? Are you supposed to go around being joyful all the time even when bad things happen in life?
This verse is showing a way to not only get through difficult times, but to experience peace during the difficult times. How?
Take your focus away from your problems and focus on something that is beautiful and wonderful; focus on God and His love for you. Focus on His promise of peace. Rejoice in the Lord. By putting your attention on God instead of the burdens that are too big to bear, you are focusing on what is right, pure, lovely, admirable, and definitely praiseworthy. You are focusing on hope, on what is possible—with God ALL things are possible.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Instead of being anxious and suffering through another day, know that you don’t have to handle it all on your own; you are not alone.
Pray. Have a conversation with God. Tell God your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, and how you feel. He already knows everything about you, but by having a conversation with God, you open yourself up to hear from Him.
Present your requests to God. Seek His guidance in all things and trust that God will lead you, that He will guide you in the best way to go. Trust that God has got it handled.
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.” Be willing to listen for answers to your prayers. Be open to what God may want to do through you to help your situation.
“Let your gentleness be evident to all.” Imagine yourself being gentle. Does this not evoke a feeling of calm, of peace?
By focusing on God instead of your problems, you will receive peace beyond all understanding. You will be able to rejoice in His love, knowing that He loves you so much and that you are not alone.
God is almighty, all-powerful, and He loves you! Who better to have on your team in times of trouble? Knowing that you have given it all to God, that He has promised you peace, you can go forth filled with hope that is greater than any fear or doubt.
