“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
When those moments of worry, fear, or panic hit, here is a simple technique to reduce the anxiety:
- Allow yourself to stop for a moment, take a deep breath in and say to yourself, “There is nothing else I need to be doing right now. There is no where else I need to be in this moment.”
- Take another deep breathe in and release it slowly as you remind yourself of this scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, knowing that everything will work out and it will be good.
This is also a good technique to use when you are faced with a decision or too many things to do and you don’t know what to do next. Getting calm and quiet, even for a moment, gives you a chance to step back and see things more clearly. It also gives your body a moment to turn down the stress reaction and become more calm and relaxed.
